I had a good Starting
position for Heats one & two, Qualifying in 4th place for both heats.
First heat - I
finished 3rd, Kart ran as expected, thought that was ok.
Second heat - I
finished 8th, (not so good) after having problems with the spark plug and
the power valve (a very disappointing result) that gave me a 6th place start
on the grid for the Pre-Final, and wouldn't you know it it starts to rain
and all, put the wets on, change a couple of things and off we go.
Pre-Final - First
corner 6th to 2nd, the kart seemed to handle great in the wet with the set
up I used - had the best lap time and the best speed for that heat, had
comments from people saying it was the neatest kart on the track in the wet
(setup was spot on) finished 2nd which gave me 2nd on the grid for the final
(cool).
The Final - was a
let down (no fault of the kart or driver) I got punted off the track at the
first corner - by the time I got back on the track I was last and 1/2 a lap
down with 15 laps to go. I was sure I could at least catch up to 2nd last,
and I did, the kart was on fire, not quiet enough laps to pass. Oh well
(that not bad for a 7 year old chassis and a 100 year old man) all in all it
was a great weekend.
